All Culinary Students - If you want to take Culinary 2 you must send me an email. I have discovered there are some of you who think you signed up for Culinary 2, but did not send me an email. The system will not put you into a class you already took, so I need to have Mr. Wetherington over ride it for you to get the class. Just a few more students and we will have a class of our own for the first time! We could do so much more! If this is a class you want this class you need to email me asap.
Update May 18 This is our last week of new assignments. I will be grading today and again on Friday. Over the weekend, check to see what you still need to turn in so you can be finished for the year. So many of you have done a great job. I have missed you so much. We have a fabulous group of students taking Culinary 2 next year. It is not to late to sign up, just send me an email. I hope to see some of you in 2D art next year.
Update 4/27 YES you can take Culinary 2. You need to email the request to me, having already chosen an alternative elective. Let me know which elective you chose is the 3rd choice and Mr. Wetherington will do an override. I look forward to seeing you in Culinary 2. On the recipe page I have uploaded to new recipes from our list of things we would have made. Bon Appetite!
Update 4/17 For your TV Show - You must watch and report on a culinary show. FYI - my favorite culinary show is Good Eats. I love the science he uses. Also I am looking for a bit of insight, not answers I can make up by just reading the topic of the show. #3 is the one to really pay attention to. Here is a good answer I got -
#3 List a few things that you learned or liked in this episode
- how to debone a chicken and cut it into filets
- how to a mortar and pestle for grinding in culinary – it should have a substantial heft and be non-porous such as a granite one.
I am changing the form next week because of the answers I am getting for number 4. A good #4 answer I received -
After watching this episode, what do you now want to cook or eat?
I want to cook some muffins and biscuits. I like chocolate muffins and would like to try to make some after watching the show. I like just regular every day biscuits. I use a ready made mix to make biscuits for my breakfast. Sometimes, I use canned biscuits that are easy and quick.
However - based on the answers you were giving me, #4 has changed.

Culinary Students- Below you will find the grocery list for the cooking lessons I had planned through the end of the year that you can make at home. I may add more cooking lessons as we go, but this is the plan. You will need to make at least one of the recipes per week. I looked for fun, easy things you could make for your family for a meal or a dessert. I will begin posting instructions and recipes by April 10. Bon Appetit. To turn in your cooking labs, you will take a picture of you cooking the dish and the completed dish plated for service. I will also be posting a handout to complete for each recipe. You will need to turn in one recipe each week no later than 9 p.m. on Sunday. Your first cooking assignment is due no later than April 19. Watch here and Microsoft Teams for updates on additional work required. Be safe and well. Eat well.
Parents - please note if you do not want to grocery shop, or if some of the recipes do not work for your family, I intend to have an excess of choices so your child can make what works for you as a family. If you have any questions just reach out to me through remind or email [email protected].
