Holocaust Art Lesson - I was so excited to see so many of you able to join our zoom lesson today. I hope you were inspired. If you would like to send a thank you to Mrs. Grinshpoon or Mrs. Goldstein, send me an email, or by USPS to school and I will send the messages on for you.
If the recording went well, I will post it to this website for review. Below you will find the assignment and the power point I was referencing during the Zoom class. Make sure you notice there are 3 parts to this project to be completed and turned in. Everything is due on May 22. Have a great stay at home weekend, remember in the lesson I shared that Anne Frank spent 761 days in a 450 sq ft attic room with 7 other people, having to stay quiet the entire time. We can do this. By the way a great math refresher is to figure out how much of your home is 450 sq ft.
The slide show below is pictures of the poems and journal entries written by the children of Terezin. Some of the writings span 2 pages, so read them in order. Use their writings as inspiration to draw upon for your own writing for this assignment.
Update April 3 - All - The artist statements should also be completed and turned in through MIcrosoft teams, I think you should be able to attach your pictures to the assignment, lets try to do that. - 6th grade parents and students - you can go to Microsoft Teams to complete the featuring page, do it directly online and turn it in. I have put the stamps with each artist's featuring assignment. I have already put up Donatello and MIchelangelo. I think this will be easier for the featuring page, and to get feedback. I think you should be able to attach a photo of your coloring page as well. If you have already done it the other way, that is fine. I will update the due dates by Monday but know that Donatello is due on April 7 and MIchelangelo on April 10.
Update April 3 - see extra credit below in yellow. If you do not have your art bin and projects yet, they are in the school office. 7/8 graders be sure to ask for a pot of Modge Podge to complete your personality heads. Each class needs to check this page and your individual class pages for updates and assignments. If you have any questions send me a remind or an email, stay well, be creative.
I know you do not HAVE to do art this week, but art is so much more fun. I have seen some fun ideas. The Getty museum has put out a challenge to recreate master pieces from home. Search Bored Panda for ideas. Extra Credit to all who try the challenge. What to do - pick a masterpiece, recreate the masterpiece at home, take a picture, send a picture of both the original and your recreation with your name to me by May 1. Another fun idea for extra credit- create some art about this pandemic, it could be a painting, a drawing, a sculpture, a comic,. In your art you should be reflecting what is happening in the world or your home during this time. Send me a photo with your name. Good Luck, be creative, I am really looking forward to what you create. Both assignments for extra credit are due by May 1.
Pictures from our Monster project. I have numbered each picture, so you can write a caption for the picture, or send a comment. List picture number, come back and see if your comment or caption is chosen. Stay well, go wash your hands.
