I am Jeanne Schroeder. I teach middle school art and culinary careers at Swift Creek Middle School in Tallahassee, Florida. I am not native to any of these things. I am a true Midwesterner, born in Chicago, then off to Fox River Grove, IL, Lebanon, OH, Milford, MI (where I met my husband, my teaching career began and had my daughter), Thomasville, GA (where my son was born), next to Milwaukee, WI and finally Tallahassee. I began my teaching career in 1982 teaching middle school science. In 2008 I became the yearbook adviser at SCMS and led fabulous student staffs for 8 year, and in 2011 I became the art teacher. My newest teaching adventure began in 2014 as I transitioned into Culinary Careers.
I have lots going on in life beyond my school day. My number one interest is my family and nothing is better than a grandchild . Yes, the Mr Schroeder at Lincoln is my son. I also love to read, cook, create and travel. I haven't been very many places I wouldn't love to go back to . Travel is one of my greatest pleasures. This summer I spent a week back home in Milwaukee, a week in New York (Long Island and Manhattan) and 12 days traveling throughout Italy on a food tour with 3 of our current 8th graders. I have also been to Ireland, Germany, Amsterdam, Paris, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Canada and Alaska. I feel so blessed to have been able to see so much of the world, to experience the art, the culture and the foods. Traveling so much allows me to bring those experiences back to my classroom. I may get the opportunity this coming year to go to Tibet, fingers crossed.
