Update April 3 - Personality Head Project is due on April 24 by 10 pm. If you have not gotten your art bin and supplies they are in the school office. Be sure to ask for a pot of Modge Podge from whoever is on duty.
Update March 29 - Parents and Students - I will be available for art bin and current project pick up from 1:00-1:45 on March 30 in the art room. I will be including materials to complete our personality heads. For upcoming work you will need Elmer;s White glue, cardboard, think amazon boxes, box cutter. I will be giving instruction through Microsoft Teams and this website. Keep up with both places. Stay Well, Keep being Creative.
Welcome to 3 D art. This is a class in which you will work on improving your skills no matter what level you are at. The goal of each project I select is that every student will be able to find success. I know most of you will tell me "I can't draw", well I can't play the trombone, but I am pretty sure that with instruction, an open mind, practice and effort I could learn. The same goes for art. This is the page for updates on the current project happening in the art room. Most of our projects take a few weeks to complete. In mid May we will send 12 pieces of art from SCMS to the Middle School Art Show exhibited in the Foster Tanner Gallery at FAMU. This is a professionally hung exhibit of artwork done in middle schools throughout Leon County. Every year it is an absolute treat to go and observe, and I especially love presenting the awards to our award winning students. Only 12 pieces can be exhibited from each school, so it is quite an honor to have one of your pieces of art selected to go.
Parents - if you have any questions, concerns, ideas etc the best way to get in touch with me is by email. I check my email first thing in the morning, and last thing before I leave for the day. Often I will check throughout the day, so it truly is the quickest way to get a response from me. I do have a tricky email, be sure to add the 2 after my name. If you do not hear back from me within 24 hours, check with your child if I was at school, if I was, please forward the email to Ms. Rishell. She knows of the tricky email situation and will pass it on to me. I teach in 2 different classrooms, and have 3 different phones, so as you can tell catching me at the correct phone is often tricky - go with the email method. If you truly want to chat, just tell me that in the email and I will call you back. I will respond to all correspondence within 24 hours on school days. I look forward to a very creative year with your child.
